Recent letter from our Guests

Northern Oregon Area

April 28, 2010

TO:   Ms Hazel Seow - Director of Operations    hseow@farmersdaughterhotelgroup.com

Mr. Peter Picataggio - Owner                   ppicataggio@farmersdaughterhotel.com

This letter is to commend the Surftides Hotel, Lincoln City, Oregon - specifically your current Sales Manager, Phyllis Pendergraft.

We began our adventure at the Surftides very well with Liz Dahlager, your former Sales Manager.    When we began serious confirmation and follow-through, Phyllis Pendergraft had picked up the responsibilities to fulfill our requests and needs for our extended retreat's use your facilities.

Aglow Northern Oregon Area is part of an international organization - with women coming to our event at the Surftides from all parts of Oregon and even some from Alaska.  With this diverse gathering, we found Phyllis to be our ideal facilitator.  She worked closely with us to see that all our concerns were met and went well beyond the basic needs to accommodate and serve us extremely well.

We found the facilities served our purposes beautifully.  The Chef is to be commended for superb food preparation, and the staff working with and for Phyllis Pendergraft was professional, timely and most pleasant - a joy to be around.

We appreciated the security, the atmosphere and the genuine help and provision supplied.

If we had any concerns or questions, Phyllis was quick to answer and provide.  We cannot thank her and your staff enough for giving us a place to carry out our agenda for the weekend.

Our housing requests got a bit convoluted on our part, but Phyllis was very patient and set everything in order for us - working very well with our Vice President for Finance on our leadership team.

We thank you and we thank Phyllis for a most wonderful weekend with you!

Sincerely,

Service

The business we are in is quit simply defined as  " The act or service of welcoming, receiving, hosting or entertaining guests."

Ever day we get the honor of meeting people from all over the world at Surftides. Our number one goal is to give the very best service, we strive for nothing short of perfection when it comes to service.

Our Philosophy on customer service is to provide a warm smile, friendly ear, accommodating your requests and inviting atmosphere that allows you to enjoy YOUR TIME while staying as our guest.

Recently we hosted a large group at Surftides.

Liz D. , part of the family here, who's main duties are sales, can not help but get involved in all aspects of the hotel. There is a term called "owning it" and Liz embodies this term. Liz is Customer first no questions asked make them happy at all costs type person.

And it is because of her service skills that we get notes from our customers every day.

The group that stayed with us recently sent us this. I will not report the entire letter her but here are just a few of the comments:

  • "Thanks for all the work to make this retreat fun and successful"
  • "Our year is a little better because of you"
  • "Thanks for the amazing mermaid contest and entertainment"
  • "Thank you so much for all your hard work"
  • "This was amazing"

Then even sent us a Photo of something they all signed.

Those comments and photos say it all. We are for you, to make your experience during YOUR TIME the best it can be.

I hope to see all of you at the coast very soon. Until that time stay safe & smile at your neighbor.

Good bye to an era but never forgotten

BlogToday we started the renovation of the restaurant at Surtides. The restaurant is changing names to MIST from KI WEST.

Ki West has a deeper meaning to our family and will always be remembered. Ki is the name of my wife's brother. He left us a few years back for what I am sure is a much better place.

Ki is very well known and very liked in this town. Trying to fill his shoes my wife and I are finding to be a huge challenge.

See Ki was a man with lots of spirit. Someone who when you walked into the lounge or the hotel he would recall your name. Greet you only the way Ki could and make you feel like you were home.

No matter what was going on Ki could bring up the energy level in the room.

He was a family man with complete devotion to his children. And a very hard worker that wanted nothing but the best for his family.

I recall when Ellen and I told everyone we were going to get married. Ki took me to the side of the house and more else told me if I was to ever ".................blank blank blank ( fill in everything you can think of ) I would be answering to him no matter what.

He told m how much he liked me and he was welcoming into his family but make no bones  about his protectiveness for his sister.

Then with out loosing a beat he told me to have a DRINK WITH HIM!!! With a big firm hand shake and man hug...

So 8 years later, we begin a process on the restaurant that was named after him not to forget him but to do what we think he would would do.

MIST, The name is obvious. MIST is the Oregon Coast Morning, MIST is that gentle feeling against your face as you walk down the coast here in Lincoln City. Soft, subtle, Invigorating, refreshing.

We are creating an entirely new menu, rebuilding the inside, changing the uniforms and really given her a complete make over.

Our kitchen is being headed up by a young rising star, Tyson Sanchez. More to come on Tyson very soon.

We will be having a Grand Opening very soon.

I look forward to seeing old friends and making new ones.
